Milo Update 10/04/08

Let's see if I can do this without tears. I want all of you to know that YOU!!!!! are the true angles of Milo, NOT ME! That once little starving, fragile guy is now almost 90#'s of solid muscle and thinks the world revolves around him. All he wants to do is play. If he does something wrong and gets in trouble he just looks at me with those eyes like he's saying "what? this the best you got, this is nothing compared to what I've been through" Luckily for me, Milo loves me and wants to please me not make me unhappy with him.... But he sure does take alot of work and will for the rest of his life. I can only pray I'm up to it.

I really have to stress that if I had not had the prayers and help financially, socks, bandages, shoes help with physcially bandaging him ( I can't count how many times) web assistance from Lisa, Allison and Jenny, I would have had no choice to put this little guy to sleep because of all I personally going through myself. I don't know how many times I asked myself what am I doing, I've got to be nuts or something. I now can't thank you all enough..
Milo is a beautiful, loving (almost to loving:)) example of what this breed truly is, I know he has changed alot of my clients ideas of what pit bulls truly are. A friend of mine is making me a bunk bed for me so I can actually get some rest... He takes up the whole bed and they all have to sleep right beside me, not good for hot flashes. He (all my kids) have to be where I am. Most irritating when your walking, quickly turn around and trip over four dogs, because they're right behind you, i've stayed upright for the most part:).

Milo continues to see the Doc. Good news is, at least as long as nothing traumatic happens, he will not have to have his little wrist just above his feet fused,, ( I still lift him down from anything that is above 2 feet so he doesn't hurt them) Bad news, it may be that it is his elbows that need the surgery and his hips, but not yet, I'm going to do everything else first,,, prevention is what I believe is going to ge the key. His regular vet seems to feel he will have a short life and might have to be on meds forever.... We both say not yet, he still doesn't appear to be in much pain. Milo gets tired very quickly and then you will see the trouble he has walking.. It's then I make him rest, get massage, accupuncture and chiro. I still would love to get Milo certified as a therapy dog and take him to Childrens hospital,,, Heck just plain get him out there to educate people. Even if milo hurts or if I need to do something with him that hurts, He never gets cranky or even acts like he is giong to get assertive in anyway... He's awesome! He does need to listen better tho:) But I truly think he is making up for not being able to run, play, explore and just plain be a puppy for the first 5.5 months of his life when he should have been able to be. He couldn't walk for heavens sake and that to is partly why his hips could be an issue in the future.

It was very crazy and there were problems in the beginning when I got Milo on Feb 9th of 2008. I personally had been injured. Had a partiat wrist fusion on 5/7/08 and now have had a total wrist fusion on 9/17/08. Been off work since 4/23/08... But overall this injury has been going on since 2004 when I orginalily ripped the muscle off the bone... Tough for a Massage Therapist.
But i'm so thankful that Milo does not have to go through that and I will do all I can to see he doesn't have too. Things happen for a reason, and I feel that had I not been rehabing myself this year that I would not have had the time to devote to his wound care. As Dr. Fry said that was going to be the key to his health. BUT I STILL WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT ALL OF YOU!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE KNOW THAT I THANK YOU ALL FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! And Milo gives lots of loving slobbery kisses to say THANK YOU.

I've been wanting to bring lots of pics, videos etc. to all of you of before and now... So please stay tuned because Allison and Jenny of K9rradoptions will be getting this on the web starting next week 10/6/08..... They truly have w/Lisa been my right hand ( the one I got fused) And in all the trouble with Milo a wonderful friendship emerged that I will cherish forever, Thank you guys, you mean more to me than I could ever express..

Please all of us need to stick together, support one another and most of all find the good and keep laughing! I'm sure the future videos will make you laugh and cry... But Milo an d I would like you to Laugh He certainly is!

God bless you and that gorgeous "big" guy of yours! this is a truly remarkable breed no matter what you need to go through to win them over - they are magic. i so pray that God sends you all the help you need in every aspect of your and precious Milo's needs. all my love katina
